CAREERS AND SEASONAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES
COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Highliner Lodge is a thriving and ambitious fishing lodge located on Chichagof Island, about 90 miles north of Sitka and 100 miles west of Juneau in the small town of Pelican, Alaska. Surrounded by lush rainforest and mountains that rise up thousands of feet on either side of the protected waters of Lisianski Inlet, Pelican is little more than a half-mile stretch of 12-foot wide boardwalk with a year-round population of under 100 residents and a small K-12 school system.
The Highliner Lodge is owned and operated by commercial fisherman entrepreneur Steve Daniels, who first came to Alaska to troll for salmon in 1976. The lodge he eventually built after 30 years on the ocean now represents a mini-conglomerate of businesses conceived to help breathe life back into the community of Pelican. These businesses include Fairweather Expediting & Transport Company (passenger and freight services), Mad Max Marine (a full-service Suzuki Marine dealer), Rosie’s Bar & Grill (seasonal bar/restaurant), Indigo Fisheries (a sport/commercial fish processor), Fairweather Development Company (marine and land construction service)... and the main business, Highliner Lodge, which employs over 30 seasonal workers and attracts sport fishermen from all over the world to enjoy the best multi-day sport fishing experience in Alaska.
As an expanding business, we are always on the lookout for motivated, honest, hardworking, and talented individuals to join our team and help rebuild the community of Pelican, Alaska. The most important factors that we look for when hiring is a good attitude and a strong work ethic. If you aren't willing to put in long hours, take constructive criticism, and be rewarded on your merit... this is not the place for you!
We expect superior performance from our employees, in personal hygiene, professional contact with our customers and relations with other employees. We are NOT a "party lodge" or a summer camp for young adults. Drama, unprofessionalism, and excessive drinking are absolutely not tolerated. Our staff voluntarily limits or abstains entirely from alcohol use, smoking is discouraged, and all drug use including marijuana is strictly prohibited.

No matter what your current goals in life are, you never know when you're going to come across someone or some place that challenges and inspires you to accomplish different, maybe even greater things. Like many generations of opportunity-seeking people from all over the world, we've found remote Alaska to be that place... and our teammates at Highliner Lodge are those people. If you try a season up here and find it's not those things for you, at least you'll have saved up a good amount of money in a short time and experienced something few will even try. We look forward to speaking with you!
