MV Highliner Express
This 50' long and 17' wide aluminum catamaran, built by ACI Boats in Port Townsend, WA will cruise at 24 knots, the same speed as our charter boats! Because it is long and wide, weighs seven times as much as our 32’ charter boats, and has twin hulls: the ride is much smoother than any mono-hull charter boat. We will be traveling on a very stable and comfortable vessel in protected inside waters.
This fast ferry is designed and rated for 49 passengers and is US Coast Guard inspected. We will limit the number of passengers to around 24 guests and minimal freight, allowing plenty of space and comfort as you transit from Juneau through beautiful Icy Straits, past Glacier Bay on to Pelican. Coffee, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, are provided free of charge for your enjoyment. The cabin is heated with windows all around, plenty of charging ports for your devices, comfortable leather chairs, card tables and drink holders, two stand-up marine heads, and luggage storage compartment below deck.
For some, it will be a great sightseeing and whale watching trip! For those who are more focused on fishing: We will be going too fast to troll for salmon, so don't even ask! The ferry ride takes about 4 hours from dock to dock... only about two hours longer than checking in at the seaplane an hour ahead of time and then flying to Pelican.
